Vilema’s Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) is a high-performance engineered wood product manufactured by bonding multiple layers of thin wood veneers under controlled conditions. Unlike solid wood, whose strength can vary due to natural defects such as knots, grain deviation, and moisture inconsistency, LVL offers a more uniform and predictable structural performance. The cross-aligned veneer structure allows loads to be distributed evenly, resulting in higher and more consistent strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability compared to conventional solid timber of the same section.

Through this engineered design, Vilema LVL can achieve strength levels comparable to—or exceeding—those of solid wood, while significantly reducing warping, twisting, and splitting during use. At the same time, LVL requires fewer large-diameter, high-quality logs, as it efficiently utilizes smaller, fast-growing plantation timber. This not only improves material efficiency but also helps reduce reliance on solid wood, supporting sustainable forestry and lowering environmental impact.
